Orville D. “Orv” Hornsby, Jr.
Orville D. “Orv” Hornsby, Jr., 68, of Smithfield, Pa., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 10, 2002 with his loving family at his side. He was born January 8, 1934 in Georges Township, Pa., son of the late Orville D. Hornsby, Sr. and Evelyn M. Collier Hornsby.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife Doris J. Miller Hornsby and one sister Eleanor J. Maust.
Orv was retired from PennDot and served on the Smithfield Borough Council.
Surviving are his wife, Cathy Smith-Hornsby; children, Roger Hornsby and his wife, Lou Ann, Kathy Davis and her husband Kevin, all of Smithfield, O.D. “Pete” Hornsby and his wife Christine of Morgantown, W.Va., TSGT Scott Hornsby and his wife Terry, Niceville, Fla., Candice Bogucki and her husband Joseph of Carmichaels, Pa. and step-daughter, Kim Whipkey and her husband David of Greensburg, Pa.; grandchildren Roger Hornsby, Jr., Megan Lyn Davis, Morgan Hornsby, Kelsey Hornsby, Christopher Tindall, Heather Hornsby, Jordan Bogucki and Halee Bogucki; step-granddaughter, Samantha Whipkey; brothers, William Campbell and wife Clara Belle, Benjamin Campbell and wife Vernie and Robert Hornsby and wife Jean, all of Uniontown; a sister Linda Hornsby, Springfield, Va.; mother-in-law Norma Smith, Continental #2; brothers-in-law, Gary Smith, Fairchance, Wallace Miller and wife Helene, Cleveland, MO. and Glenn Miller and wife Erma Jean, Smithfield and sister-in-law Bonnie Fowler and husband Arthur, Smithfield, Pa.
The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p .m. and on Thursday until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. George W. McLaughlin and the Rev. Donald J. Immel officiating.
Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park, Brownfield, Pa.
