Stephen Kosick
Stephen Kosick, 87, of LaBelle, Pa., and a resident of West Malden Manor in Charleroi, Pa., died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, in the Brownsville General Hospital. He was born May 29, 1915, in Maxwell, Pa., the son of the late Peter and Elizabeth Kovalchick Kosick.
He was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church of LaBelle, Pa., and the Holy Name Society.
He retired from U.S. Steel Corporation, and worked for the Pennsylvania Highway Department and Aloe Coal Company, in East Millsboro, Pa. He attended California State Teacher College of California, Pa.
He was a former member of the Rotary Club of Republic, Pa., the Brownsville Hospital Board of Directors, and the Brownsville School District Board. He also enjoyed playing the violin and singing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen C. Juran Kosick; and a sister, Elizabeth Hagyari.
Surviving are three children, Patricia and her husband, James Currie of Charleroi, Pa., Mary Lou and her husband, Ray Neil of California, Pa., and Bernadette and her husband, Joseph Mendish of Latrobe, Pa.; five grandchildren, Chris Currie and wife, Beth of Boswell, Pa., Dru Anne Neil of Gettysburg, Pa., and Jennifer Currie, Erica Mendish and Jessica Mendish, all of Latrobe, Pa.; one great-grandchild, Riley Currie of Boswell, Pa.; and a sister, Mary Kosick of Brownsville, Pa. He is also survived by a special friend, Julia Ward of Brownsville, Pa., and by his friends at West Malden Manor on Washington Avenue in Charleroi, Pa.
Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park St., Brownsville, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., where a prayer service will be held on Thursday at 10:15 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m., in St. James R.C. Church of LaBelle, Pa., with the Rev. Fr. James Petrovsky as celebrant. Interment in LaFayette Memorial Park. A Vigil Service will be held this evening at 8:30 p.m.
