Anthony D. Pellegrine Jr.
Anthony Dewey Pellegrine Jr., son of A. Dewey Pellegrine Sr., and Elene Rendina Pellegrine, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, at his residence in Fredericktown, Pa. He was born in Brownsville, Pa., and was a 1960 graduate of Bethlehem-Center High School. After attending WVU, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country honorably in Stuttgart, Germany. Mr. Pellegrine attended the University of Maryland and in 1968, was graduated from California State College. Dewey was also a graduate of the American Management Association (AMA) in Saranac Lake, N.Y. He then took a position with the Puritan Sportswear Division of Warnico Industries. After his transfer to San Francisco, he formed a partnership, which set up SBA (Small Business Association) loans for entrepreneurs. In 1975, he returned to Fredericktown, where he was actively involved in real estate investments and property management.
He was a member of St. Oliver Plunkett Parish of Fredericktown, and the Hanson-Cole American Legion Post 391 of Fredericktown.
Mr. Pellegrine was previously active as a mentor in Junior Achievement and served as vice president for two terms with the Fredericktown Chamber of Commerce. More recently, he served on the East Bethlehem Township Municipal Authority.
He was a versatile handyman and electrician and had the insight and ability to fix anything. This talent he shared with his neighbors and friends.
Surviving are his sister, Donnalee Stone of Fredericktown, with whom he made his home; and his niece, Dana Elene Stone of Birmingham, Ala.
Also surviving are his aunt, Margaret Matthews of Collingswood, N.J.; his uncle, Jerry Rendina and wife, Mildred of Masontown, Pa.; and his aunt, Kay Rendina, also of Masontown.
Dewey also had many cousins and friends with whom he shared his remarkable wit and humor, notably Gloria Tonetti, Marlene and John Gagliardi, Phillip Rosenthal and John Moschetta Jr.
Friends will be received in the FRANK S. BURKUS FUNERAL HOME, 26 Mill St., Millsboro, Pa., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., where family and friends will meet at 10 a.m., on Saturday to proceed in procession to St. Michael’s Church of Oliver Plunkett Parish of Fredericktown, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul J. Grunebach. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Cemetery, Jefferson Road, Waynesburg. Military services will be accorded by Hanson-Cole American Legion Post 391, Fredericktown. A Parish Vigil Service will be held on Friday at 8 p.m., in the funeral home.
