Man found guilty

A Uniontown landlord was found guilty of 13 city code violations – 12 for cockroach infestation – at a now-vacant rental home he owns at 45 Whiteman Ave. and was fined $13,000 and court costs. The other citation was for failure to properly maintain the property.

District Justice Mark Blair found the landlord, Gary Roll of 201 Lenox St., guilty at a hearing Monday. Roll appealed the decision to Common Pleas Court in Fayette County.

City code enforcement officer and acting fire chief Myron Nypaver issued the citations in September.

The fines were the maximum for each citation, but Blair could have issued $1,000 fines for each day the code violations existed.
