Hearing waived

1 min read

William H. Thomas, 44, of 22 Millview St., Uniontown, waived his right to a preliminary hearing Monday on charges that he screamed obscenities at a state police trooper in July while he was dropping off his wife and infant daughter at church for Sunday services. He faces charges in Fayette County Court on misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats and disorderly conduct. Uniontown police withdrew a charge of failure to disperse. He is free on bail.

Police said when Sgt. James Baranowski pulled up in front of St. Therese Roman Catholic Church on Mill Street at 11:45 a.m. July 31 to drop off his wife and infant daughter, Thomas pulled up and started screaming obscenities, telling him to move his car. Other people were entering church at the same time.

Baranownski motioned for Thomas, who was with four other men, to pass him, but Thomas threatened to ram his car with his wife and child inside. The trooper showed Thomas his police identification, but Thomas continued yelling obscenities, police said.

The hearing was scheduled to be heard by District Justice Mark Blair.
