Nick Washko, 91, of Martin, Pa., passed away on Monday, November 18, 2002 in Smithfield, Pa. He was born August 11, 1911 in Martin, Pa., son of the late John and Mary Knezovich Washko.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary (Clark) Washko in 1972 and two brothers George and Mitchell Washko and three sisters Minnie St. Clair, Bessie Malinsky and Sophie Zorosky.

He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army. He was a coal miner and worked for Duquesne Light. He was a member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Orthodox Church in Masontown and a member of the American Legion Post 423 and the VFW Post 4584.

He is survived by a brother Mike Washko of Martin, Pa.; two sisters Emily Sloan of Martin and Mildred Gustafson of Melvindale, Mich., a sister-in-law Carmella Washko, dear friends Thelma, Rita, Vicky and Bubby who took care of Nick and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOMES INC., A Dignity Memorial Provider, 515 N. Main St., Masontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and until 10 a.m. Thursday morning, when the funeral service will be held, in the funeral home, with the Rev. Fr. Alexander Tandilashvili officiating.

Interment to follow at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Orthodox Cemetery, Masontown, Pa.

Parastas will be this evening at 7 p.m., in the funeral home.
