Ira T. London Ph.D.
Ira T. London Ph.D., of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, at the Uniontown Hospital. He was the son of the late Marc A. London and Theresa Spier London.
Ira graduated from Highland Park High School, Highland Park, N.J., Class of 1952, and he also graduated with a BS from Rutgers University, Masters in Psychology from Delaware University and his Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut. He started his teaching career at Dennson College in Ohio, he worked one year for Park College in Missouri, where he met his wife, and then continued his teaching at California University of Pennsylvania as a Professor of Psychology, and retired after 25 years of service.
Ira was of the Jewish faith and belonged to the Jewish Community Center for many years.
He was an active Board Member for the Actors and Artists of Fayette County, and he was also a comedic actor with his most noted roles in-Sunshine Boys, Grandpa Hangs the Holly (Grandpa), Fiddler on the Roof (Lazar Wolfe), and many other roles through the State Music Hall and Asbury Theatre Guild.
For ten years, he was the PTO President of the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf. He was an ardent baseball fan and old movie buff.
Ira is survived by his wife of 31 years, Laurie Ward London; a son, Marc A. London and wife, Becky and grandsons, Ricky and Gage London, all of Uniontown; a daughter, Rachel A. London and grandson, Jack London of McClellandtown; a brother, Sheldon and wife, Helen London of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown. A Celebration of Life will be held at the California University of Pennsylvania-Old Main Chapel (Second Floor) on Saturday, Nov. 23rd, at noon.
