Carmichaels teen to sing at Heinz Field
CARMICHAELS – Brynn Marie Cirota, 18, the daughter of John and Nita Cirota of Carmichaels, has been selected by the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League to sing the national anthem for the regional football playoff games tonight at Heinz Field. A senior at Carmichaels Area High School, she said this opportunity is a dream come true. “This is a great opportunity to be heard,” she said. It’s a door that’s being opened.”
Cirota was recommended by Carmichaels athletic director John Krajnak.
When it comes to football, Cirota isn’t the only one who has had a lot to sing about in Carmichaels. The Mikes football team had an impressive season, and even though she’s a little disappointed that they won’t be playing at Heinz Field, Cirota said she’s still proud to represent her school.
She has sung the national anthem at home basketball games, as well as WPIAL baseball and basketball playoff matches.
Earlier this month, she sang during the Waynesburg Veterans Day celebration. She also was selected to play the part of “Rizzo” an upcoming production of the play at the high school.
She’s a busy young lady, serving as a varsity cheerleader, captain of the soccer team, drum leader of the band, chorus and drama club member, honor student and yearbook staff member.
Cirota was Carmichaels Area’s Coal Queen representative and was selected 2002 homecoming queen. Her out-of-school activities include singing in a praise and worship band called “Fiat.” She also studies the drums, voice and the violin, gives voice lessons and is a member of the St. Hugh Catholic Church and choir.
She plans to attend West Virginia University and major in music next fall.
