Connellsville police probe robbery of pizza shop worker
CONNELLSVILLE – City police are investigating a late-night armed robbery at a North Pittsburgh Street pizza shop. Connellsville Police Chief Stephen Cooper said Thursday that officers are seeking the person that took a bag of cash from a Domino’s Pizza employee at gunpoint as the employee was exiting the store Wednesday after business hours.
“We’ve been told that someone approached the employee from the side of the building with a silver revolver and told him to turn over the money and leave,” said Cooper. “The employee gave him the cash and left in his car.”
Cooper said several hundred dollars was taken during the robbery.
The unidentified employee, who was not injured, left the scene and contacted police.
Cooper said it is unknown if the armed robber left the scene on foot or had a vehicle to make his escape from the parking lot.
“We’re asking anyone that was in the area around 11:30 p.m. and saw anyone suspicious around the North Pittsburgh Street business or the robbery take place to give us a call,” he said. “All information will remain confidential.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the police department at 724-628-2501, extension 114.
