Arrest made
A Greene County man was jailed Wednesday for allegedly injuring a security officer in Dunlap Creek Village as he fled the housing project to avoid questioning.
According to Redstone Township Police Sgt. Roy Mehalik, the arrest of Michael Glenn Greenwood, 29, of Mount Morris stemmed from an incident that took place Tuesday evening.
Mehalik said Dunlap Creek security officers tried to detain Greenwood for questioning Tuesday after seeing what they thought looked like a drug transaction, but Greenwood drove off with security officer Wayne Adams, 39, of Normalville hanging from his vehicle.
Mehalik said Adams was reaching in the vehicle to take the keys out of the ignition when Greenwood allegedly drove off and sideswiped a tree, in order to knock Adams from the vehicle.
Adams received injuries to his leg and was flown to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and released Wednesday, according to Mehalik.
Mehalik said Greenwood got away, but an investigation led police to Wayne Manor, Waynesburg, where they took him into custody at 11 p.m. Wednesday and charged him with aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.
Greenwood was arraigned before District Justice Herbert Mitchell and placed in Fayette County Prison in lieu of $25,000 percentage bond.
