In brief…
Funding awarded State Sen. Richard A. Kasunic (D-Dunbar) recently announced state funding for three Fayette County water projects.
“I am pleased that state funding will be used to advance these important local water and sewer projects,” Kasunic said. “A reliable drinking water and sewer system will help attract more businesses and families to these communities.”
The projects include:
– $712,000 for Washington Township to construct 118,000 linear feet of sewer lines to serve 1,467 homes. The project also will provide for additional force main, four pump stations and expansion of the Belle Vernon sewage treatment plant.
– $1.024 million for Fairchance Borough to replace 9,300 linear feet of waterline and repair the Cave Hollow Reservoir.
Kasunic said existing waterlines are deteriorating and frequently break.
– Everson Borough will share in $5.4 million to replace old water lines. The project will improve the quality and reliability of the borough’s drinking water system.
The low-interest loans were approved during a board meeting of the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST).
