Mary Angela (Bednarz) Bzik
Mary Angela (Bednarz) Bzik, 78, of Uniontown, Pa., died peacefully on Sunday, November 24, 2002, in the Uniontown Hospital. She was born on March 22, 1924 in Oliver #1, Pa., a daughter of John and Nellie (Gasior) Bednarz.
The last surviving member of her immediate family, her parents, husband Michael Bzik; brothers John Bednarz, Francis Orawiec, Joseph Bednar; and sisters, infant Merri Bednarz and Anne Barnas preceded her in death.
Mary was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, St. John Byzantine Church Senior Citizrns’ Club and St. Joseph’s R.C. Confraternity of Christian Mothers. She was a great lover of animals and especially of her beloved dog “Penny” and all of her pets whom she cared for over the years.
Surviving are a sister-in-law Helen Bednarz of Uniontown; five nieces and nephews, George Allen Barnas, Sr., Elanie Bednarz, John Bednarz and wife Donna, Frank Orawiec and wife Kathy, Stanley Orawiec and wife Dorothy; a special great niece who was her caregiver, Angela Kenes, and many dear great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces and great- great nephews.
Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOMES, INC., A Dignity Memorial Provider, 139 W. Fayette St., Uniontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday until 10 a.m. when a Panachida Service will be held followed by Divine Liturgy at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church with Father Thomas J. Wesdock as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. John Byzantine Cemetery, Hopwood, Pa.
St. Joseph’s Confraternity of Christian Mothers will recite the Rosary today at 3 p.m. St. John Byzantine Seniors will conduct services this evening at 6:45 followed by the Parastas Service at 7 p.m.
