Robber strikes again in Connellsville

By Patty Shultz 2 min read

CONNELLSVILLE – A second business within a three-day span has been hit by an unknown gunman seeking cash. The latest incident took place Saturday at 9 p.m. at the Graft Sunoco gas station located at 816 McCormick Ave., according to investigating officers of the Connellsville Police Department.

“Unfortunately, this is something that routinely happens as the holiday season gets under way,” said Chief Stephen Cooper on Monday. “People get desperate for money and this is the route they take.”

According to police, the masked robber brandished a black pistol and demanded the station employee hand over his money and then fled the scene on foot.

Approximately $600 was taken in the robbery.

The attendant described the person as being a white male, 18 to 22-years of age and being 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing about 140 to 160 pounds. The suspect had a thin build, with blonde short hair and was wearing a gray sweatshirt with a logo and baggy pants.

A similar incident took place late Thursday when someone with a silver revolver approached a Domino’s Pizza Shop employee as he was leaving the North Pittsburgh Street business and demanded he turn over the bag containing the approximate $300 in receipts he was carrying through the parking lot.

Police have not released a description of the gunman.

Anyone with information relating to the robberies is asked to contact police at 724-628-2501, extension 114. All information received will remain confidential.
