Two people injured in Thorton Road accident
Two people were transported to Brownsville General Hospital after a 10:30 a.m. accident along Thorton Road that left one vehicle resting on its roof. According to Chief Rich Brosky of the Republic Volunteer Fire Department two people, whom he could not identify, were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
State police at Uniontown were also unable to identify the two individuals involved.
One of the vehicles, a Ford Tempo, came to rest on its roof in the southbound lanes of Thorton Road or Route 166 early Tuesday, causing firefighters to restrict traffic to one lane in that area.
A Jeep Wrangler came to rest at the top of a wooded area, hanging by its tire from a bent aluminum guardrail.
Willie Porter of East Millsboro identified the woman involved in the accident as his mother, Sharon Porter, no age or address given.
Willie Porter said he arrived after his mother called him from Bill Porter’s, cell phone.
Bill Porter of California is no relation to Willie or Sharon Porter.
According Willie Porter, his mother was ejected from the back of her Wrangler Jeep onto a pile of logs and downed trees.
“She said she was O.K., but she complained that her ribs hurt,” she said. “I just passed her on this road earlier today.”
According to witness Bill Porter, both vehicles were travelling south on Route 166. Porter said he did not witness the collision, and came upon the vehicles after they had already wrecked.
“Both vehicles were travelling down the hill. I seen a woman climbing up from the wooded area, over the guardrails when I arrived,” Porter said. “She was crawling up from those logs when I seen her. Then I seen a man crawling out of his car. I did not see the accident though.
“After I helped the woman wipe the blood from her face, I helped the man out of his back window,” Porter said.
State police at Uniontown, Allison 1 and Allison 2 volunteer fire departments along with Fayette EMS and Brownsville EMS also assisted at the scene.
