Nelva M. Etling
Nelva M. Etling, 90, of Connellsville, Pa., passed away at her home on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002. She was born April 7, 1912, in South Connellsville, the daughter of the late Jacob D. and Lucille Dahl Sanner.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and treasured her grandchildren. She was a lifelong resident of the Connellsville area. She did volunteer for the Connellsville State General Hospital in their snack bar, and was a member of the hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of The Bullskin Township Seniors, The Order of the Eastern Star No. 247 of Connellsville, and a member of The Otterbein United Methodist Church of Connellsville for over 50 years.
She was an avid Scrabble player.
Surviving are her husband of 65 years, George W. Etling, to whom she was married on Sept. 6, 1937; a daughter, Nelva (Tootie) Hasson of Republic, Pa.; three sons, Charles G. Etling and wife, Karen of Connellsville, James A. Etling and wife, Gari of Bountiful, Utah, and Leslie G. Etling and wife, Mary of Connellsville; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild, as well as several stepgreat-grandchildren; and a sister, M. (Deanie) Borden of Claremont, Fla.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Leslie Sanner, Weldon (Bob) Sanner and Jess (Bud) Sanner; two half-brothers, James Tressler and Roy Tressler; and a half-sister, Goldie.
Friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green St., Connellsville today from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Elmer Reamer officiating. Entombment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park Mausoleum. Order of Eastern Star No. 247 will conduct a memorial ritual at 7:30 p.m., this evening, at the funeral home.
