Greene Academy to host fall art classes
CARMICHAELS – The Greene Academy of Art will host a series of fall art classes by local artisans for the general public. Terry Lash will teach oil painting. The style is wet on wet and will be a covered bridge on 16- by 20-inch canvas. Maximum number of students is 12. Cost is $30 per painting. The class will decide what the next project will be. Classes are held Wednesdays, Oct. 9, 16 and 23, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Alfred Ellsworth will offer a course in sketching Saturdays, Oct. 12, 19, 26 and Nov. 2 and 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The maximum number students is 15. Participants must bring a sketchpad, pencils and a kneading eraser. The course costs $40.
Linda Cowell will teach a class in beginners cross-stitch, level 2, Thursdays, Oct. 10, 17 and 24, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The maximum number of students is 12, and participants must bring a simple project pattern, thread and 14-count cloth.
Just in time for Halloween, Khris Valentine will tell Greene County ghost tales at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25. The event is free, but registration is required. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served, and all ages are invited.

A class in basket making is planned for November if enough people show interest, and classes in cake decorating, calligraphy and oil painting are planned for early spring.
