Cumberland Twp. Two cited

John Jordan Jr., 23, of Carmichaels was cited by state police for open-container violations after a traffic stop on Nemacolin Road at 1:20 a.m. Wednesday. Police said Jordan’s passenger, Blake Edward Kelley, 18, of Mount Morris, also was cited for the open-container violation, as well as for underage consumption. Police said that seven cans of beer were recovered, along with two open cans.

South Union Twp.

Two to stand trial

Kenneth Alan Ashton, 45, and William Edward Ashton, 49, both of Hopwood, were ordered held for court on charges of simple assault and harassment filed by state police in Uniontown. Police alleged that the Ashtons assaulted Jeffrey Scott Sutton, 38, of Smithfield on Sept. 25 along Doyle Street. District Justice Rick Vernon held the charges for court but dismissed aggravated assault charges filed against both defendants.

West Brownsville

Man charged

Thomas Paul Nopwaskey, 36, of West Brownsville was arrested on terroristic threats charges for allegedly threatening Kimberly Sue Nopwaskey, 31, of West Brownsville with a rifle at 8 a.m. Sept. 30 at 607 Third Street Extension, state police said. The suspect was arraigned and committed to the Washington County Prison in lieu of bond.

Dawson

Warrant issued

State police said District Justice Michael Rubish issued an arrest warrant for Melanie Elizabeth Poole, 19, of 112 Railroad St., Dawson, charging her with false reports and bad checks.

Police allege she reported her checkbook stolen in April, but she used the checks to buy merchandise from The Dairy Store in Dawson. Her account did not have sufficient funds to cover the checks, police said. Anybody who knows her whereabouts should call the barracks at 724-929-6262.

Uniontown

Minors cited

City police cited Francis Wayne Lee III, 19, of Surrey Hill Apartments, Uniontown, Christian Lillian Matsko, 19, of Spring Mount and Joshua S. Turner, 19, of Michael Drive, Uniontown, for underage drinking at 11:30 p.m. Thursday at 51 W. Main St. Police were dispatched there for a report of people drinking on the roof and throwing beer bottles onto the street and sidewalk.

Three cited

City police cited Joseph Michael Parker, 18, of North Gallatin Avenue, Uniontown, and a 14-year-old boy for underage drinking and a 16-year-old boy with violating the city’s 11 p.m. curfew for minors at 12:01 a.m. Friday at 223 N. Gallatin Ave. Police were dispatched there for a report of juveniles overturning garbage cans and throwing things at houses.

South Connellsville

Charges filed

State police said Aubrey Ward Boyer, 30, of South Connellsville was charged with indecent assault, indecent exposure and corruption of minors Wednesday after incidents involving an 8-year-old girl between May 16 and Sept. 24, 2001. The charges were filed at the office of District Justice Ronald J. Haggerty Sr.

Redstone Twp.

Officer assaulted

State police said a juvenile injured school officer John Peters of Ellsworth and teacher Michael Brink of Waynesburg while resisting arrest for an incident at Colonial Elementary School at 8:30 a.m. Friday.

Police said charges were filed with juvenile authorities.

Uniontown

Man cited

Earl Lewis Spiker, 51, of Park Avenue, Uniontown, was cited for public drunkenness after city police allegedly found him passed out at 12:30 a.m. Friday behind a Gallatin Avenue building.

South Union Twp.

Man charged

State police charged Charles “Mitch” Smith, 36, of Uniontown with a number of offenses after he allegedly broke into the East Main Street home of Brittany Winfrey, 25, and repeatedly hit her with a baseball bat Friday around 10:30 p.m.

Smith also struck Debra Drone, 33, of Akron, Ohio, a 9-year-old and a 6-year-old during the assault before he fled the scene, police said.

Winfrey was taken to Uniontown Hospital Friday night, but hospital officials could not give an update on her condition Saturday evening.

District Justice Rick Vernon issued a warrant for Smith’s arrest, charging him with aggravated assault, burglary, simple assault, harassment and stalking, recklessly endangering another person, intimidation of witnesses or victims, retaliation against a witness or victim and criminal mischief.

Anyone who has information about Smith’s whereabouts should call state police at 724-439-7111.

Point Marion

ATV stolen

John Ray Hughes, 19, told state police that someone stole his all-terrain vehicle from his residence Thursday at 2 p.m.. The ATV was spotted later that day when Hughes and his friends chased the driver down until he crashed into a guardrail after crossing the bridge onto Route 88 in Greene County, police said. The driver of the ATV fled the scene afterward, police said.

Holbert Lee Victor of South Connellsville told state police someone took his vehicle from his home Thursday at 5 p.m.

Car stolen

Victoria Hope Hillen told state police someone stole her minivan from her New Salem Road residence Friday at 2 a.m. The vehicle was found with two flat tires in Dunlap Creek Village, police said.

Douglas Scott Ritenour of Normalville told state police someone threw a rock through a window of his vehicle between 3 and 7:30 a.m. Friday.

Patricia Ann Walker, 33, of Brownsville told state police someone removed money and cigarettes from her purse, which she had left in a bathroom, Wednesday at 100 New Salem Road.

Man not injured

State police said Barry L. Smith Jr. of Fairbank was not injured when he lost control of his vehicle along Rowes Run Road Saturday at 1:30 a.m. and ran into a culvert on the side of the road.

Suspect sought

Patrick Stefancin, 49, of Uniontown told state police a man entered his home through an opened garage door and took a mountain bike from the residence Friday evening. The suspect is 25 to 30 years old with sandy blond hair, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 160 to 170 pounds, police said.

Man injured

State police said John Simbeck of Mount Pleasant and Richard McCormick of Connellsville were involved in an accident Friday at the intersection of Route 119 and McClure Road. Police said McCormick suffered minor injuries.

Money stolen

Lydia Lynn Markle told state police two people removed $450 in cash from her purse between 4:15 and 6 p.m. Tuesday. The first suspect, who may be named Dale, is 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 200 pounds and was wearing a Dale Earnhardt cap. The second suspect, who may be named Marie, is 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs 120 to 140 pounds and has blond hair. Anyone with information about the incident or the suspects should call state police at 724-439-7111.

Doors damaged

State police said someone damaged the rear doors of Point Marion Tobacco and More and Rosnick’s Auto Collision Parts sometime Thursday night or Friday morning.

State police said someone broke into a vehicle owned by Mario Thomas Sylvester, 48, of Uniontown along Mullen Street on Thursday morning and removed items belonging to Michael Ryan Sylvester, 18, of Uniontown.

State police said Dorothy Romanie of Creekside was not injured when the vehicle she was driving slid on gravel while negotiating a curve and her vehicle came to rest on its roof in a ditch Friday morning along Crabapple Road.

Frances Marie Brooks, 42, of Hopwood told state police someone stole her cell phone from her vehicle at Uniontown Mall between 10:15 and 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.

State police said someone stole a wallet from the purse of Margaret C. Zahradnik, 81, of Uniontown Friday afternoon at 158 Warden Street.

Daniel Depta of Scottdale told state police someone entered his home through an open window and took a handgun and ammunition between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday.

Citations issued

City police said Gary Nicklow was cited for public drunkenness and released Friday after he allegedly was found intoxicated at 162 Morgantown St. at 9:26 p.m..

In an unrelated case, police cited Larry Frey of 68 S. Beeson Blvd. for public drunkenness and released after he allegedly was found intoxicated and urinating in public at Church Street and Beeson at 8:07 p.m. Friday.

Uniontown

Men involved in fight

Melvin Huff told city police that a man known to him punched him in the face and head after an argument at 39 Stewart St. at 6:47 p.m. Friday.

Huff had a laceration below his right eye and was bleeding from his nose, said police.

Boy found driving

A 14-year-old boy was taken into custody for driving without a valid license after trying to elude police at 4:40 p.m. Friday. The boy was then released, and charges are to be filed with juvenile probation officials, said police.

Chief Richard A. Barron completed the borough police department’s September activity report. The report shows one theft by deception arrest, one bad checks arrest, nine alarms, 11 traffic/parking complaints, one found property, five juvenile complaints, eight animal complaints, one mental health commitment, 10 thefts with one arrest, 23 traffic details, 18 miscellaneous complaints, 10 disturbances with one arrest, five missing people, one terroristic threats report, eight domestic disputes, one unauthorized use of vehicle complaint, three abandoned vehicles, eight assists to other police and nine suspicious person/vehicle reports.

It also included 10 escorts, eight harassment incidents with two arrests, four criminal mischief incidents with one arrest, two assaults with two arrests, three 911 hang-up calls, two public drunkenness incidents with one arrest, one custody complaint, seven ordinance violations with eight arrests, one motorist assist, two burglaries, one disorderly conduct incident with one arrest, one trespass report and one accident. Lost or stolen property was valued at $1,386, and recovered property was valued at $100. Officers also issued 29 traffic citations.

Luzerne Twp.

Report released

Luzerne Township police released the following activity report for September: one case each of animal cruelty, assisting a code officer, assisting a fire department, burglary (value of stolen goods, $2,500), illegal dumping, property dispute, public drunkenness with an arrest and a recovered stolen quad (value $3,000); one traffic accident; two each of abandoned vehicles, alarm activations, assists of EMS units, auto theft (value $4,500), criminal mischief (one arrest), dog complaints, blocked roadway, threats; three each of ATV complaints, disturbances; four each of assisting Brownsville police, domestic disputes and trespassing; five hang-up calls to 911; six each of assists to Redstone Township police and harassments (with one arrest); eight thefts (value of stolen goods $13,085); 13 miscellaneous calls or complaints; and 21 traffic citations. Police patrolled 1,678 miles during the month.
