Ruth E. Wertz Stewart, 80, of Smithfield R.D.3, Pa., died Friday, October 4, 2002, in Beverly HealthCare, Uniontown, Pa. Born March 2, 1922, at Shinnston, West Virginia, she was a daughter of William and Nattie McMinn Wertz.

She attended the former Point Marion High School and the former Fallen Timbers Methodist Church.

Ruth was employed for 23 years as a Cashier for the A&P Grocery Store in Point Marion.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Stewart in 1966, sisters, Martha Gardner, Helen Griffin and Florence Wertz, brothers, Bert, Warren and Ernest Wertz, and parents.

Surviving are her son, Ralph F. Stewart of Smithfield R.D.3; grandchildren: Melissa Vance of Uniontown, Pa., and Craig Stewart of Smithfield R.D.3; great granddaughters: Kaitlyn Vance and Felicia Stewart; a sister, Belle Crowe of Smithfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to join the Family for a graveside service on Tuesday, October 8, at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion, with Rev. Scott Teets officiating.

Arrangements are under direction of the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, 501 Morgantown Street, Point Marion, Pa.
