Authority advances sewerage project
REDSTONE TWP. – The Colonial Joint Sewage Authority is taking preliminary action to get a planned sewage plant and lines under way. At the authority’s meeting Monday, engineer Rob Kuchar of Sucevic, Picclomini & Kuchar Engineering, reported the results of the core bore test at the plant site that the authority had been waiting for.
“They drilled holes there and found rock about 9 feet deep, which will be good for the plant,” said Kuchar.
He also said they are waiting for the arrival of a permit from the DEP and reported that they should have their design completed before the permit comes.
Dick Widmer of Widmer Engineering also reported to the authority about his firm’s progress.
“All of our lines are laid out and we’re working on drafting of easements,” Widmer said. “We’ll also be preparing an application for PENNVEST and working with the authority to secure easements.”
Widmer said when the authority proceeds with the project would depend on how quickly they got a closing with PENNVEST.
“It is a matter of when we can get the closing. We may be looking at several months before we can get the project under way,” said Widmer.
Solicitor Jack Purcell said that easements would need to be done before the closing.
“PENNVEST has said they will consider unique circumstances if there is a reason why they could not be completed, but they would prefer to have everything tied up,” said Purcell.
Widmer also told the authority that they would soon have the plans for the lines ready so that before the next meeting they will know what the lengths are.
