Harold Miller
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength: they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint. ISAIAH 40.31 Harold Miller, 74, of Connellsville, Pa., died peacefully Tuesday ,Oct. 8, 2002, at his home.
He was born Jan. 13, 1928, in Dunbar, a son of the late Joseph Paul and Mary Kate Woodmancy Miller.
Harold was a lifelong resident of the Connellsville area. He was a graduate of the former Dunbar Township High School with the Class of 1946. He worked as a railroad engineer for 34 years for the former B&O Railroad and later CSX from May 10, 1951 to Oct. 25, 1985.
He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Mount Pleasant, where he served as a Deacon. He was a former member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Connellsville, where he had served as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent and Teacher. He also played in the orchestras of both churches.
Harold is survived by his loving family: his wife of 52 years, whom he married on March 25, 1950, Betty Rae Collett Miller; his children, Lt. Col. Thomas H. Miller, Ret. Of Connellsville, Deborah Lee Shelton and her husband, Jack of Hendersonville, Tenn., Leslie Ann Jackson and her husband, John of Brentwood, Tenn., Lila Jane Mixer and her husband, Bruce of Penna Furnance, Pa., and Rebecca Sue Mays and her husband, Danny of Clarksville, Tenn.; his grandchildren, Ashley and Taylor Shelton, Emily and Todd Jackson, Amy and Joie Mixer and Bradford and Stephanie Mays; a brother, Robert Miller and his wife, Betty of Cary, N.C.; and his sisters, Doris Lizza and her husband, Fred of Dunbar and Janet Chen of Farmington Hills, Mich.
The family would also like to acknowledge their appreciation for the wonderful care and support given by Dr. Richard Lynn and his staff and his caregivers, Isabelle Huey, Kay Hinton, Betty Yauger and Betty Gallagher, all of Connellsville.
Family and friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green St., Connellsville, today and Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Additional viewing will be held on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of a funeral service, in the Calvary Assembly of God Church of Connellsville, with the Rev. Roger Richter officiating. A committal service will follow in the chapel at Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville. Entombment will be in the Sanctuary of Love Mausoleum at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be given to the Connellsville Meals on Wheels Program or the First Assembly of God Church in Mount Pleasant, in memory of Harold Miller.
