Open house planned Tower open to public

An open house will be held at the Pondfield Fire Tower on Sunday from noon until 4 p.m.

The tower is located about a quarter of a mile south of the entrance to Laurel Caverns, off Route 40 east in Wharton Township.

Smokey the Bear will be on hand to greet children from 1-3 p.m. The open house is being sponsored by the Southern Fayette Forest Fire Wardens and the Bureau of Forestry.
