Council meets After the soup sale at the Bobtown United Methodist Church on Saturday, the administrative council met, with chairman George Gapen presiding and opening the meeting with prayer.

Plans were made for the annual church conference, to be held at the church Nov. 5, beginning with the pastor-parish relations meeting at 6:30 p.m. and the conference at 7 p.m. All reports should be given to the pastor at once.

Plans will begin soon on the 65th anniversary of the church, set for 2003. This will be a “homecoming” for many, and any input will be welcome.

Also, plans will begin on the annual “Hanging of the Greens” service Dec. 1 at the 11 a.m. worship service.

The soup sale day was a great success, and all participants were thanked for their efforts, especially those who came out and supported the project.

It was announced that Helpshops will be held Nov. 2 at the First Church in Waynesburg.

The next soup sale day will be held Nov. 2, with the council meeting to follow.

All items for the monthly newsletter are to be submitted to the Carmichaels office no later than the third Monday of each month.

The business meeting closed with prayer by the chairman.

Dinner scheduled

The second annual spaghetti dinner will be held Oct. 20 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin, Mary Orthodox Church (St. Mary) in Masontown. The public is invited. Take-out orders will be available.

Services a success

The first of Saturday night services for the Bobtown United Methodist Church was held Oct. 5, with great success. Pastor Terry Teluch reminds all that services will not be held Saturday, Oct. 19, due to his attendance at school.
