Man convicted A Perryopolis man was convicted last week of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl who stayed at his home last July 6.

Fayette County jurors returned the guilty verdicts for statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, corruption of minors, giving liquor to a minor and possession of a small amount of marijuana against Scott A. Kimberly late Thursday.

Kimberly, 34, gave the teen marijuana and alcohol the night she was at his 1432 Blue Star Road home and then held a pillow over her face and sexually assaulted her, according to state police.

The teen testified during the two-day trial that she was embarrassed after the assault and waited until Aug. 10, 2001, to tell her father what had happened.

Verdicts returned

Several jury verdicts were returned last week in Fayette County Court.

In the first, Terrence J. Biddings, 20, of 11 Dunlap Creek Village, Republic, was convicted of possession with intent to deliver and possession of cocaine. Jurors found that Biddings possessed more than 10 grams of the drug when arrested last year.

In a second, unrelated case, David Paul Miscovich, 41, of 127 Belsar Drive, McClellandtown, was found not guilty of aggravated and simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. He was convicted of harassment for allegedly threatening two representatives of a repossession company.

Finally, two men were acquitted in unrelated cases tried during the October term of criminal court week:

– Brian K. Helmick, 25, of 814 York St., Brownsville, was acquitted of terroristic threats.

– In an unrelated case, Arthur D. Neighbors, 26, of Smithfield was acquitted of simple assault.

State police had charged both men for offenses that allegedly occurred in 2001. last year.
