Washington County Crime Stoppers is seeking information on two suspects in a burglary/theft that reportedly took place Sept. 27 in Centerville. The suspects are a white man, 40, with a stocky build and thick, dark moustache; and a 5-foot-5-inch white woman in her mid-20s with a thin build and shoulder-length brown hair.

Driving a white contractor’s van with roof rack, the suspects reportedly went to the home of an 85-year-old woman in Richeyville. While the man talked to the victim about repairing broken shingles on her roof, the woman ran into the house, saying she needed to use the bathroom.

While the elderly woman was distracted, one of the suspects reportedly took a large amount of cash from the residence.

Anyone with information is asked to call Centerville police at 724-632-6655 or, if they want to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 800-446-9777.

Uniontown

Impersonator sought

Uniontown police are seeking a man who impersonated a police detective and pulled over a woman driving on Morgantown Street at 2:45 p.m. Saturday.

The suspect told the woman her vehicle was “wanted” and proceeded to search her vehicle, said officer Wayne Brown. He had the woman sign some type of document and told her she had to go to the state police station within an hour, Brown said.

The suspect pulled her over using a blue light on his dashboard, and he was wearing a black business suit.

He is about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 30 to 35 years old.

If women feel uncomfortable about being pulled over, they can go to a well-populated area, the nearest police station or fire department, said Police Chief Kyle Sneddon.

People should not hesitate to ask for credentials if they are pulled over, said Sneddon. Non-uniformed police officers in unmarked cars usually do not pull people over in the city limits, as a matter of practice, said Sneddon.

Anyone with information about the incident or anyone who sees suspicious activity should call police at 724-430-2929 or the chief’s office at 724-430-2933.
