Joseph S. Martin Jr.
Joseph S. Martin Jr., 87, of Bobtown, Pa., died Thursday, October 10, 2002, in The Madison, Morgantown, West Virginia.
Born May 21, 1915, in Collier, Pa., he was a son of Joseph Martin Sr. and Anna Tencer Martin.
He was a member of St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church and UMWA Local 6159 both in Bobtown.
He retired in 1978 from J & L Steel Corporation’s Shannopin Mine in Bobtown after 42 years employment.
Surviving are his two sons: Joel Martin of Los Angeles, California, and Paul Martin of Bobtown; four brothers: Michael Martin, Emil Martin and Edward Martin all of Bobtown, Steve Martin of Hammondsport, New York; and two sisters: Mrs. Arthur (Anna) Jones and Mrs. Louis (Marie) Kovach both of Greensboro, Pa.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 53 years, Elizabeth Collins Martin, on May 6, 1999, a brother, John Martin, sister, Margaret Martin, and parents.
Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, 501 Morgantown Street, Point Marion, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, October 14, until 10:15 a.m. when prayers will be said.
A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 11 a.m. in St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, Bobtown, with Rev. Fr. Lawrence V. Holpp as Celebrant.
Interment follows in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion.
Parish Vigil Service will be held in the Funeral Home this evening.
