David L. Firestone Jr.
David L. Firestone Jr., 80, of Bullskin Township, Fayette County, Pa., died Friday, October 11, 2002, at his home. He was born May 3, 1922, in Bullskin Township, Fayette County, Pa., son of David L. Firestone Sr. and Gertrude Leach Firestone.
David was a resident of Bullskin township his entire life.
Prior to his retirement he worked as a Die Setter for Anchor Hocking Closure Division in South Connellsville, Pa.
After his retirement he worked as a Beekeeper. He was the fourth generation in the Firestone Family to work as a Beekeeper and was an active member of the Pennsylvania Beekeepers Association.
David was a Veteran of World War II who served in the United States Army in the Pacific Theatre. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds sustained at Mindianoa, Philippines Islands, and was a member of Disabled American Veterans.
He was a Trustee of Rich Hill Union Community Church and Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Genevieve Welsh Firestone; two sons: Barry Firestone and his wife, Cathy, and Keith Firestone and his friend, Nancy Smith, all of Bullskin Township; a stepson, Paul R. Dobish and his wife, Mary, of Gambrills, Maryland; a stepdaughter, Margaret Gaffney and her husband, Bill, of Mount Pleasant, Pa.; eight step grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren.
He was the last remaining member of his immediate family. A sister, Helen Buchholz, four brothers, Howard A., Harry L., Warren R., and Elmer D. Firestone, and his parents preceded him in death.
Family and Friends were received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green Street, Connellsville, Pa., Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held today, October 14, in the Funeral Home with Rev. Evelyn Stillwagon officiating.
A Committal Service and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville, Pa., where Military Rites will be accorded by Connellsville V.F.W. and American Legion and Trotter American Legion Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be given to Rich Hill Union Community Church, 696 Englishman Hill, Connellsville, PA 15425 in memory of David L. Firestone Jr.
