Burglary investigated

State police said $1,630 in property was stolen from the Banning Road home of James W. Hayes Jr. and James W. Hayes Sr. between 7 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. Monday. Taken was a Hoyt Raptor compound bow, Warren Sweat tree stand/climber, two 12-gauge shotguns, O’Neil racing helmet, Homelite 14-inch chain saw and a Homelite weed trimmer. Police ask anybody with information about the incident to call the station at 724-929-6262.

Menallen Twp.

ATV stolen

State police said a white 2000 Yamaha Blaster with red and black trim and FMF stickers on the front fenders was taken from James Rider’s property Sunday between 3 and 9:30 p.m.

South Union Twp.

Motorcycle stolen

A 1991 Suzuki motorcycle owned by Chad Brazill, 25, was stolen from the front yard of his Little Brownfield home Sunday night or Monday morning, state police said.

Springfield Twp.

Vehicle catches fire

State police said Randy Maines of Normalville and his two children were not injured when his vehicle caught fire while he was driving on Fox Berg Road, south of Route 711, at 8 p.m. Oct. 4.

Nicholson Twp.

No one hurt

State police said neither David Ernest Smith nor Roy S. Engle, both of Smithfield, was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 8:15 p.m. Sunday on a state road.

Bullskin Twp.

Vehicle accident

Benjamin F. Miller, 25, of Mount Pleasant was not injured when he was forced off Rose Road at 9 p.m. Monday by a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction and struck a tree, state police said.

Dunbar Twp.

Hit-and-run probed

An unknown driver lost a red 6-foot truck cap after hitting guardrails at 124 Slaughterhouse Road and traveling through a small stream and a field at 2 a.m. Sunday, state police said.

Lower Tyrone Twp.

Man cited

State police cited Matthew L. Pahel, 37, of Connellsville for harassment after he allegedly repeatedly contacted Richard G. Helms, 52, of Dawson after Pahel instructed him not to do so.

Uniontown

Car entered

City police said someone broke into a car owned by Jack Boyd of Ligonier while it was parked in a West Church Street parking lot and took his cell phone and wallet, which contained credit cards. Boyd reported the theft at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday.

West Brownsville/California

Police to patrol

West Brownsville and California police will patrol Wilson Road, and anyone caught dumping there will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, officials said. According to police, someone has been dumping building material along the road, which runs through both boroughs.

Connellsville

Man charged

Connellsville police filed charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief against Leslie Hall, 18, of 57A Connellsville St., Dunbar, after he allegedly broke into a West Crawford Avenue business early Sunday morning and stole a bicycle and money.

Hall was arraigned Monday before District Justice Ronald Haggerty and incarcerated in Fayette County Prison after failing to post a $5,000 straight cash bond.

South Union Twp.

Vehicle hit

Elaine Cobert of Uniontown told state police that her parked vehicle was struck while another car backed into a parking space in the Wal-Mart parking lot at 2:50 p.m. Thursday.

Menallen Twp.

Items taken

Matthew Thad Reid, 34, of Uniontown told state police that between Sept. 29 and Oct. 13, his Dearth Road home was entered and a 3-horsepower air compressor and 21/2-ton hydraulic jack were removed.

Bullskin Twp.

Trailer stolen

Better Materials Inc. of Connellsville told state police that early Tuesday, their stone quarry off of Rich Hill Road was forcibly entered and their almond and white mobile light trailer was removed. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the state police at 724-439-7111.

Store entered

Delligatti Auto Sales told state police that between 9 p.m. Monday and 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, their Memorial Boulevard store was forcibly entered, but nothing was reported missing.

Burglary

Amadale Ciarmella, 75, told state police that her establishment, Ciarmella’s Tavern, First Street, Gray’s Landing, was entered between 9 p.m. Monday and 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, numerous vending machines were damaged and about $50 was removed. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call trooper Morrison at 724-439-7111.

Man not injured

No injuries were reported to state police when Aaron Bowlen of Rices Landing lost control of his vehicle on Smithfield-Masontown Road, striking a tree, at 5 p.m. Monday.
