Advisory issued London trip planned
WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg College is planning a theater-literary trip to London, England, next May 12-23.
Individuals interested in participating in this trip should call English professor Jamie Dessart at 724-852-3429 or drama professor Edward Powers at 724-852-3226 by Friday, Oct. 25.
The trip will focus on the history of the theater, contemporary theater and the literary history of England, specifically London. The price for the trip will be about $1,800, and a deposit of $200 is due by Oct. 30. This price includes airfare, lodging, breakfast each day, entry into all the scheduled visitation sites, and admission tickets for three plays, including one at The Globe Theatre and one by the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford, Shakespeare’s birthplace. Two additional plays are optional.
The trip will include the following visits: Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace and changing of the guard, Westminster Abbey, Tower of London, Theatre Royal – Drury Lane, Theatre Museum, a walking tour of London, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Globe Theatre and various museums. In addition, the trip will include visits to areas outside of London, such as Canterbury Cathedral, Dover Castle, Stonehenge, Bath, Stratford-on-Avon and Oxford.
