Dale F. Sproul
Dale F. Sproul, 84, of Ohiopyle, Pa., passed away Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, in Highlands Hospital, Connellsville. He as born Jan. 6, 1918, in Stewart Township, son of the late Thomas O. and Marea Show Sproul.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Stella Strickler.
Surviving are his wife, Catherine Hiles Sproul with whom he has been married for 56 years; six children, Thomas D. Sproul and wife, Rosemary of Ohiopyle, Larry E. Sproul of Silver Springs, Md., Susan Klein of Ohiopyle, Richard M. Sproul of Arlington, Va., William E. Sproul of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Barbara D. Carpenter and her husband, Jerry of Herndon, Va.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; four sisters and four brothers, Irene Mancha of Charleroi, Charles Sproul of Confluence, Nettie Partin of Doylesberg, Pa., Herbert Sproul of Ohiopyle, Wilma Burd of Vanderbilt, Loretta Conn of Delaware, Ohio, Dr. David Sproul of Tempe, Ariz., and the Rev. James Sproul of Quakertown, Pa.
Dale was a member of Meadow Run Community Church and had been a member of Ohiopyle-Stewart Township Volunteer Fire Department. He was the Treasurer of the Bryner Ridge Cemetery, and he had retired from Rockwell International with 28 years of service.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving from 1941 to 1945. Dale was also an avid hunter and sports fan.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, FARMINGTON, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. James Smiley and the Rev. James Sproul officiating. Interment will follow in Johnson Chapel Cemetery.
