Richard E. Tate
Richard Eugene Tate, 48, of Smithfield, Pa., passed away suddenly on Monday evening, Oct. 14, 2002, in the Ruby Memorial Hospital, West Virginia, with his loving family by his side. He was born June 3, 1954, in Uniontown, Pa., the son of Catherine Bartko Tate of Fairchance, and the late Carson Tate.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Scott Tate; his father-in-law, Richard Whelan Sr.; and his brother-in-law, Richard Whelan Jr.
He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Dana Loreen Knight Tate; his brothers and sisters, Joyce Verbosky of Shoaf, Pa., Edward Tate and Gerald Tate, both of Smithfield, Pa., and Chad Tate of Fairchance, Pa.; several nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Sandra Lee Whelan; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; and several friends and neighbors.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN E. KEZMARSKY III FUNERAL HOME, AT 71 PENNSYLVANIA AVE., UNIONTOWN, PA., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday until 9 a.m., when a blessing service will be held, followed by a 9:30 a.m., Mass of Christian burial in St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, with the Rev. Fr. William J. Kiel as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. View Cemetery. A Parish Wake Service will be held today at 3:45 p.m.
