Steve Chuboy Jr.

Steve Chuboy Jr., 80, of Perryopolis, Pa., went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at 2:34 a.m. He was born Dec. 23, 1921, at Tower Hill, Pa., son of the late Steve and Susan Hamelly Chuboy Sr.

Steve was an avid hunter and enjoyed gardening with his family. He especially liked to spend special time with his grandchildren.

Steve was a Sergeant in the 433rd Fighter Squadron, 475th Fighter Group. Steve was a member of the Army-Air Force. He served from 1942-1945 in New Guinea, Western Pacific, and South Philippines. He received a good conduct medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, Bronze Stars and Victory Medal.

Steve was a member of the V.F.W. Goldstar Post 7023 of Perryopolis, where he was secretary and treasurer for many years. He was also a member of the American Legion No. 752 of Perryopolis, for 46 years, where he was secretary and treasurer. He was also Past Commander, and currently Financial Officer of the American Legion.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years of marriage, Margaret M. Rosa Chuboy; loving children, Judge Carol Sax of Weyland, Mass., Steve Chuboy III of Lowber, Pa., Susan Vismor of Fox Chapel, Pa., and Mary K. Traynor of Perryopolis, Pa. Pap-Pap will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Margeaux, Mallory, Jimmy and Brittany Traynor and Christopher Sax. Also surviving are two brothers, Louis Chuboy of Star Junction, Pa., and Gilbert Chuboy of Perryopolis, Pa.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Chuboy.

Friends will be received in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME INC., 106 East Independence St., Perryopolis, today from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m., in the First Christian Church, Perryopolis, Pa., with the Rev. Alexander Jalso officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Perryopolis. A prayer service will be held Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. Graveside military services will be accorded by V.F.W. Goldstar Post 7023 and American Legion 752.
