2002-2003 retreat schedule is announced

Mount St. Macrina Retreat Center in Uniontown is releasing its retreat schedule for 2002-2003. Upcoming retreats include: Nov. 2: “Egg-Etching Workshop’ with Sister Rita Keshock from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Offering is $45. Lunch is included. Registration and a $10 non-refundable deposit are due Oct. 19. Program will include the history and theology of Byzantine icons with an emphasis on the egg etching technique.

Nov. 3: “Byzantine Spirituality: A 21st Century Perspective’ with Sister Barbara Jean from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Offering is $15. Registration is due Oct. 27.

Nov. 15: “Wholistic Health for Clergy (Part I):’ with Barbara Ann Lewis, parish nurse, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Offering is $20, lunch included. Registration is due Nov. 1. This is open to clergy of all denominations.

Participants will examine how they manage the tension between caring for self and caring for the members of their congregations, explore the concept of wholistic health and look at the life of Jesus as a role model of healthy behaviors and balance, be given tools and resources needed to make healthy choices that will help them deal with the stresses to ordained ministry.

Nov. 23: “Women’s Series: Part I of 3:’ with Sister Barbara Jean from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Offering is $20 per session or $55 for all three. Lunch is included. Registration is due one week in advance. This series will focus on various forms of prayer that can foster and sustain a mature faith-life in these challenging times.

Dec. 7: “Women’s Series: Part II) with Sister Barbara Jean.

Dec. 14: “Christmas Preparation Day’ with the Very Rev. John Petro from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Offering is $20, lunch included. Registration is due Dec. 4. Program is meant to enable one to focus on the significance of the Christ event and help one prepare for the celebration of the feast.

Dec. 21: “Christmas Preparation Day’ with Sister Barbara Jean from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Offering is $20, lunch is included. Registration is due Dec. 11.

Jan. 25-26: “Wrapped in Silence (Overnight Retreat)’ with staff from 7 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Saturday. Offering is $5. Registration and $10 non-refundable deposit due Jan. 17. A silent overnight retreat focusing on a theme from Scripture.

Feb. 15: “Women’s Series Part III), with Sister Barbara Jean.

Feb. 21: “Enjoying God’s Presence: A Day to Call Your Own’ from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Offering is $15, light lunch included. Registration is due Feb. 14.

Feb. 28: “Wholistic Health for Clergy Part II) with Barbara Ann Lewis. Registration due Feb. 19.

March 22: “Spirituality in the Workplace’ with Sister Barbara Jean from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Offering is $10, lunch is included. Registration is due March 15. Input will focus on living Christian values in the midst of a place of work.

March 29: “Lenten Day of Prayer’ with Sister Maureen Crossen from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Offering is $20, lunch is included Registration is due March 19.

April 4-5: “Respond to Change – Let Go of Irritants’ with Dee Dee Aspell, international speaker, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Offering is $65. Lunch and materials included. Workshop is approved for five hours of CEU’s for social workers (Pa.) and counselors and social workers (Ohio). Registration and a $25 non-refundable deposit due March 25. In these rapidly changing times, coping with irritants and dealing effectively with people and events is an increasing challenge. Learn how to understand yourself and others you can respond more proactively to irritants and change. Dee Dee Aspell is president of Aspell Empowerment Enterprises Inc. in San Antonio, Texas.

April 12: “Lenten Day of Prayer’ with the Rev. Mark Gruber from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Offering is $20, lunch included. Registration is due April 2. Program consists of two presentations, silent prayer and reflection, the sacrament of reconciliation, a prayer service and lunch.

June 8-14: “Directed Retreat’ with staff, from 7 p.m. Sunday through breakfast Saturday. Offering is $250. Registration and a $25 non-refundable deposit due May 25.

July 11-13: “Women’s Weekend Retreat’ with Sister Barbara Jean from 7:30 p.m. Friday to 1 p.m. Sunday. Offering is $90; commuters, $75. Registration and a $25 non-refundable deposit due July 1.

Individual directed retreats, private retreats and days of prayer are available throughout the year.
