Charles Joseph Churilla Jr.
Charles Joseph Churilla Jr., 88, of Mokena, Illinois, and formerly of Hopwood, Pa., died peacefully on Friday, October 18, 2002, at home. He was born on October 30, 1913, in Bitner, Fayette County, Pa., a son of Charles J. and Julia Sokol Churilla.
Mr. Churilla was a member of St. Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown, Pa., The Holy Name Society, and First Catholic Slovak Union.
He retired from Cavert Wire Company, Uniontown, and was an avid fan of polka music.
His parents, beloved wife, Helen E. Churilla, five brothers, Steve, John, Sammy, Joe, and George, and two sisters, Julie Sadosky and Annie Hosa, preceded him in death.
Surviving are two daughters: Rose Marie Wensing of Connellsville, Pa., and Charlotte Kirby and her husband, Cole, of Mokena, Illinois, with whom he made his home; two granddaughters: Jackie Wensing and Sherrie Hosfelt both of Connellsville; great grandchildren: Miranda and Jordan Hosfelt; a brother, Bill Churilla, and a sister, Margie Pierce and her husband, Dave, all of Uniontown, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOMES INC., A Dignity Memorial Provider, 139 West Fayette Street, Uniontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, October 21, until 9:30 a.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 10 a.m. in St. Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church, North Mount Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, with Rev. Fr. Micah E. Kozoil as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Uniontown.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s School.
Parish Wake Service will be held today at 2:15 p.m.
