Applause!

1 min read

The education council of the Fayette Chamber of Commerce has honored Lauren Mahoney from Uniontown, a junior at Laurel Highlands High School, as student of the month for October. The daughter of Tim and Beth Mahoney, she is undecided which post-secondary school she will attend, but her major will be in chemistry/pharmacy. Her career goal is to become a pharmacist.

Mahoney has gained work experience as a waitress and cashier at South Street Grille and as a Coca-Cola special event employee. She shows community involvement working as a YMCA leader and a volunteer for a leukemia patient’s benefit carnival.

Elected by their schools based on academic achievement, extra-curricular activities and citizenship, students of the month are given the opportunity for work-site learning experiences with chamber-member businesses.
