Turkey bingo Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, St. Mary’s, Leckrone, will hold a turkey bingo on Nov. 3 beginning at 2 p.m., in the church social hall. Admission is $2. The doors will open at 12:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served and everyone is welcome to attend.
Cemetery cleanup
Friends of the Masontown Cemetery are announcing the fall cleanup to be held this afternoon at 1. A carry-in dinner will be served at the Masontown Brethren Church to anyone helping with the cleanup.
The next meeting of the Friends of the Masontown Cemetery will be held Monday evening at 6 at Maykuth’s Funeral Home. New members are invited to attend.
Halloween party
The annual combined Pal’s Club/Auxiliary Children’s Halloween Party will be held today at 2 p.m. at the club’s social hall.
Treats and refreshments will be furnished to the club members’ children and prizes will be awarded by age categories.
Shop around the world
Shop around the world is sponsored by the Klondike Clergy Association and will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Masontown United Methodist Church, Main and Cross streets, in the church basement.
Shop around the world is a world bazaar of handmade crafts made by talented artisans from developing countries around the world. Items may include ceramics, wicker, candles, brass items, wood products, coffee and teas, jewelry, clothing, inspirational items, kites, angels, Nativity sets, Christmas gifts, instruments and more. All of them are beautiful and well made. There are many gifts in the $5 to $10 range, and $10-$20 range, with some higher and some lower. Patrons may preview a sample sales catalog at many of the area churches.
Buy a gift and you give twice: once to the person for whom you purchased the gift, but also to the person who made it. How? You provide a market for them to sell their products that they might not have otherwise. The gifts are marketed by SERRV International, a nonprofit group that promotes social and economic progress for people in developing nations. SERRV is a 50-year-old nonprofit organization promoting fair-trade markets for developing nations. Churches and groups around the world help to promote social and economic progress for people in poor countries by providing a market for their crafts.
