1 min read

Two Fayette County men waived their preliminary hearings Monday on charges alleging they robbed the BP/BFS Foods at 456 Morgantown St. at knifepoint on Aug. 7. Steven Vincent Campbell Sr., 28, of 92R West Berkeley St., and Joseph Howard Savage, 23, of West Leisenring waived their hearings on charges of robbery, simple assault, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy before Unointown District Justice Mark Blair.

Campbell was remanded to the Fayette County Prison in lieu of a $10,000 percentage bond. Savage is free on bail.

According to a criminal complaint and affidavit filed by Uniontown Police Detective Phillip Jones, Campbell and Savage were the two men who entered the store at 3:53 a.m. with their faces and head covered.

An employee told police one of the men pulled a knife, threatened him and then took the cash drawer from the cash register that contained at least $100 and some change, while the other robber stole several packs of cigarettes, the affidavit states. A confidential informant led police to the suspects.
