Armed robbery
City police are investigating an armed robbery at the Sunoco A-Plus Mini Market at 55 Morgantown St. that occurred at 2 a.m. Wednesday.
Police said a 5-foot-5-inch-tall black man wearing a red bandana over his face and a white hooded sweatshirt with a light blue T-shirt over it ran into the store and went directly behind the counter to the instant lottery cash box. He also took money from a cash drawer and a drawer in a back room.
Uniontown Police Detective Phillip Jones said the robber displayed what he believes was a silver-colored small-caliber handgun. A security video from the store is being studied for clues. Anybody with information about the suspect is asked to call Fayette County Crime Stoppers at 724-437-TIPS or 877-834-TIPS. Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.

Burglary investigated
City police said furniture was overturned and $11 was taken between 4:30 and 11:15 p.m. Tuesday from the 45 N. Gallatin Ave. home of Nicole Amanda Dennis.
Police said a fire escape window showed signs of someone entering. When they in the residence, police noticed a strong smell of natural gas and called the fire department. Firefighters discovered a gas leak at the furnace and shut it off. The incident is under investigation.

Theft probed
State police in Uniontown said a 5-foot-6-inch-tall white woman in her early 20s with brown-blonde hair passed checks from fraudulent PNC Bank and Smithfield State Bank accounts using the names of two people at the Save-A-Lot and Nickman’s Drug Inc. on Oct. 11 and 12.
Police said the suspect passed two checks at Nickman’s and one at Save-A-Lot using the names Jennifer Provance of Smithfield Drive, Somerset, and Linda M. Hoffman of Wendel Road, Donegal.

Firearms stolen
State police said rifles, shotguns and a handgun were taken from the home of Harold Roosevelt Long, 35, of 179 McClellandtown-Lambert Road between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Rifle stolen
State police said a known person took an M-1 carbine rifle from the home of the Rev. Howard E. Dantzler Sr., 68, of Morgantown Road, Smithfield, at 10 p.m. Oct. 22.

Burglary reported
State police in Belle Vernon said $1,800 to $4,000, about $150 in Lowe’s gift cards and some other items were taken from Barbara Jean Cardarelli’s home at 800 Vulcan Ave., LaBelle, between Oct. 7 and 28. Police said they don’t know how the burglar entered the house.

Break-in investigated
City police said a newspaper delivery boy discovered a broken door window on South Street News at 4:40 a.m. Wednesday. The owners William Poole Jr. and Debra Poole said two rolls of pennies were taken from the cash register.

ATV recovered
City police recovered a 1999 Honda 300EX from Mifflin Avenue Wednesday morning, but can not locate the owner. The owner is asked to contact Uniontown Police Detective Phillip Jones at 724-437-3430 with proof of ownership.

City police said somebody broke a window on John C. Phillips’ van and took a black gym bag containing various items Wednesday at 1 a.m.

City police said Colleen Gadd of 59 Oakland Ave. reported the theft of a Verizon cell phone and some change from her unlocked car Tuesday at 11:40 p.m.

Car struck
State police said Angela Zackal of Perryopolis struck a car parked in a lot off Barney Road at 10:30 p.m. Monday. Nobody was injured.

DUI patrols
State police in Belle Vernon will conduct roving patrol for drunk drivers during the Nov. 9 and Nov. 23 weekends in its patrol area, which includes parts of Fayette, Washington, Westmoreland and Allegheny counties.
Connellsville
Charges waived
A South Connellsville man waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday before District Justice Ronald Haggerty and agreed to have the charges of indecent exposure and corruption of minors heard in Fayette County Court.
Aubrey W. Boyer, 30, of 129 E. Painter St., is charged by state police of Uniontown for allegedly exposing himself to an 8-year-old girl while she was in his care.
Prosecutors withdrew an additional charge of indecent assault.
Boyer remains free on a $10,000 unsecured bond.
Connellsville
Teen charged
Police filed charges of public drunkenness and disorderly conduct against Cory Nicholson, 18, of 220 S. Prospect St., after he was allegedly found intoxicated and creating a disturbance along South Prospect Street on Oct. 20.
Nicholson was additionally charged with two counts each of theft and receiving stolen property stemming from two other incidents when he allegedly removed compact discs, video games and a Sony Playstation II from a Fairview Avenue and a Snyder Street residence on Oct. 14.
