Centennial Ball theme mapped out
The Uniontown Hospital decorating committee has been working with Deidra Grimm, owner of Lifetime Memory Makers Inc., to make centerpieces for the tables that will reflect the Centennial Ball theme for the Oct. 26 gala. The 2002 Centennial Ball chairperson is Sally Spegar and co-chairperson is Evelyn Mohney. Other committee members include Ruth Coughenour, invitations; Cindy Jones, reservations; Betty Stefan, publicity; Diane Spittler, advertisements; and Betty Stein and Donna Wolfe, decorating committee.
The 46th annual Uniontown Hospital Ball, or the Centennial Ball, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, in the ballroom of the Summit Inn, which is located on the mountaintop overlooking Uniontown.
The elegant evening will begin at 6 p.m. with complimentary hors d’oeuvres followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. The musical entertainment for the evening will be provided by Starfire and will include a variety of musical styles.
The proceeds from the 2002 ball will be used to purchase a Versalet 770 Care Center for the Family Beginnings Birthing Center. The Versalet Care Center is a full-featured incubator and warmer in one compact mobile environment. This used friendly incubator will provide medical professionals instant and uncompromised access to perform necessary procedures and will reduce patient stress by eliminating bed to be moves for critically ill infants. The advanced Care Center is designed to provide appropriate patient stimulation in a temperature-controlled environment.
The proceeds from last year’s ball were used to purchase a state-of-the-art Spacelab monitor for the Uniontown Hospital Surgical Suite.
In addition to being a gala social event, this year’s ball will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Uniontown Hospital auxiliary. The public is welcome to attend the ball. Anyone interested in attending may contact Cindy Jones at 724-437-7856.
