Man to appear in court on burglary charges
CONNELLSVILLE – A South Connellsville man charged with burglarizing three homes will have his case heard in Fayette County court. Corey J. Hann, 20, of 1401 Race St. sat handcuffed and shackled while his defense counsel and the prosecutor discussed whether to proceed with the Wednesday preliminary hearing scheduled before District Justice Ronald Haggerty or move the multiple charges to the court level.
Hann is charged with three counts each of criminal conspiracy, burglary, criminal trespass, theft and receiving stolen property and one count of access device fraud stemming from the July 30 and July 31 incidents.
Three corruption of minor charges initially lodged by South Connellsville police were withdrawn following the conference.
According to assistant police Chief Kevin Grippo, the arresting officer, Hann went on a four-hour burglary spree and removed a myriad of items from three homes while the owners were asleep.
Grippo said that Hann removed cameras, a compact disc player, a cellular telephone, a compact disc changer, cash credit and gas cards, insurance cards, gift cards, cash and two cases of beer from an Oak Street home.
Hann is also charged with removing a chainsaw, circular saw and jigsaw from an East Gibson Avenue residence and with removing a case of beer from a Walnut Street home.
According to the affidavit, the 17-year-old juvenile who took part in the burglaries told police where the items were located during an interview with police.
Hann remains incarcerated in Fayette County Prison after failing to post the $2,500 percentage bond imposed during his arraignment.
