William H. McCune

William H. McCune, 88, of Brownsville, Pa., passed away on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, in the Washington Hospital. He was born on Oct. 8, 1913, in Braznell, Pa., son of the late Walter and Easter Lilly Housher McCune.

He was a member of Grindstone Christian Church, the Brownsville Eagles, and West Brownsville American Legion Post 940.

Mr. McCune retired in 1976, after working as a coal miner for 49 years.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Juanita Mark; a son, Thomas McCune; and nine brothers and sisters.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Grace M. Davis McCune; five children, Leona and husband Arthur Herle of Pittsburgh, Pa., Janice Fenstersheib of Corsica, Pa., Lavelle Storoz of Pennsylvania, Sharon Minck of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Linda and husband David Groundwalski of Russellton, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Donna L. and husband Roger Schmidt of Rockville, Md.; 21 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, one step-grandchild; three sisters, Carrie Tarnawsky of Morgantown, W.Va., Annabelle Paul of Brownsville, Pa., and Sally Dalney of Detroit, Mich.; a brother, Charles McCune; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park Street, Brownsville, Pa., today, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Michael A. Helms officiating.

Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa., where full military rites will be accorded by American Legion posts.
