Ruth Wirsing Shope
Ruth Wirsing Shope, 81, of Hopwood, Pa., passed away Monday, September 9, 2002 at her home where she has resided for the past 62 years. She was born May 7, 1921 in Harnedsville, Pa., daughter of the late Franklin E. and Ella Colflesh Wirsing.
In addition to her parents she is predeceased by one sister and two brothers Louise Koontz, Eston Wirsing and Donald Wirsing.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years Llewellyn C. Shope; six children, Karen Olsen and husband Erwin of Shelocta, Pa., Linda Bobish and husband William of Fairchance, Richard Shope and wife Bonnie of Jacksonville, Florida, Dierdre Bobby and husband David of Brighton, Michigan, Kimberly Forsyth and husband James of Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, Randall Shope and wife Charlotte of Plano, Texas; 15 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; five sisters and a brother, Helen Wirsing of Uniontown, Theodore Wirsing and wife Shirley of Greensburg, Geraldine Schrecengost and husband Joseph of Pittsburgh, Sara Jane Spear of Addison, Mary Lou Morrison and husband John of Harnedsville, Pa., Shirley Graham and husband Ervin of Addison; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Wirsing, wife of the late Donald of Harnedsville and Ruth Wirsing, wife of the late Eston of Addison.
Ruth was a member of Hutchinson United Methodist Church where she had been a member for over 50 years. She had served as an officer in the WSCS and was a member of Uniontown Chapter 263 O.E.S. and was a graduate of Confluence High School.
Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a compassionate, kind friend and neighbor.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, Pa. today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of the service, with the Rev. Roger Howard officiating.
Interment will follow in Addison Cemetery.
