UPPER TYRONE TWP. – The township supervisors have asked the state police at Belle Vernon to target certain areas of the township during their daily patrols. Supervisor Sam Killinger said Tuesday that the police will monitor Dexter Road for speeders and the intersection of Shipley and Opal streets for people running stop signs.

“We’ve had a lot of complaints from these areas,” said Killinger. “I talked to the state police, and they said they will keep an eye on those areas for us.”

Dexter Road resident Esther Smetak told the supervisors that she has noticed more state police patrols in her area; however, she said there riders on quads are still running up and down the road.

Secretary Louise Koza reported that Noah’s Arc, the township’s animal control organization, has moved.

The group’s phone number is 724-439-8620.

Supervisor Chairman Jack Fullem advised residents to call the animal shelter to report stray dogs and cats.

In an unrelated matter, Koza reported that the township received a check for $375 for a sewerage rebate and a check for $400 in liquor license fees.

Koza also reported that the township received Scottdale Volunteer Fire Department’s final audit, which showed that everything was in order.
