Charged dropped

Harassment charges were dropped against Monaca Eicher of Lemont Furnace by District Justice Robert Breakiron after a recent preliminary hearing.

Trash fire extinguished

City police said the fire department extinguished a fire near a garage at 242 Coolspring St. at 10:20 p.m. Monday. Police said a neighbor reported seeing three juveniles in the area just before the fire started. Old furniture and other items piled beside the garage were ignited. Neither the garage nor other structures were damaged, police said.

Warrant served

City police said they took Rochelle R. Mazza, 20, of 26B Lincoln St., Uniontown, into custody 7:10 a.m. Monday at 292 Pittsburgh St. on a Fayette County bench warrant.

Laptop missing

City police said a NEC laptop computer owned by the state health department was reported missing from a Labor and Industry Department office on Beeson Avenue Wednesday. Employee Cindy Dias said the computer, which was used in the WIC program, turned up missing between Sept. 4 and 9.

Theft reported

City police said Latoya Lewis of N. Gallatin Avenue reported at 7 a.m. Wednesday that her car window was broken overnight and 25 compact discs and $20 were taken.

Concrete damaged

Newly finished concrete at the Maccabee Industrial Inc. construction site in the Fayette Business Park was damaged by spinning an ATV tire, said state police. The incident occurred between 4 p.m. Sept. 1 and 7:30 a.m. Sept. 3, added police.

Man arraigned

Richard Darnell Simmons, 33, of McClellandtown was arraigned on charges of unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, theft by extortion, terroristic threats, harassment, and stalking and disorderly conduct, said state police.

According to state police, Tamara Lynn Smith, 34, of Uniontown allegedly lost an earring she had been holding for Simmons. Simmons allegedly assaulted Smith at Dunlap Creek Village, Monday at 8:30 a.m., said police. Simmons then allegedly held Smith against her will in his vehicle, saying she had to produce the earring or $400 cash, said police.

Smith contacted an individual who provided her with $300, and an agreement was reached to exchange the $300 for Smith, said police. The exchange took place around 12:30 p.m., and Simmons was taken into custody shortly afterwards, said police. Simmons was arraigned before District Justice Dwight Shaner, and was placed in Fayette County Prison in lieu of $5,000 straight cash bond pending a Sept. 17 preliminary hearing before District Justice Michael Defino, said state police.

Vehicle found

David Alan Jordan, 40, of Dilliner reported to police on Aug 22 that a 1994 Chevrolet Camaro was stolen from his salvage yard, Jordan Auto, on Moffitt Road, sometime during the previous night. The vehicle was later found near the intersection of Route 88 and a legislative route, said state police.

One-vehicle crash

An unknown person driving a Honda of unknown model and color struck a guardrail on Adah-Palmer Road Aug. 31 at 1 a.m., said state police. The operator was traveling west and failed to negotiate a bend in the roadway, said police.

DUI

Charles Reagole, 23, of Uniontown was charged with driving under the influence after a traffic stop on Aug. 17 at 1:15 a.m., said state police. Charges were filed with District Justice Mark Blair, said state police.

Woman harassed

State police filed a citation against Reginald Grooms, 43, of Allison after Grooms allegedly shoved Tonya Grooms, 39, of Allison during a domestic dispute at 210 Main St. on Sept. 2 at 3 a.m.

Guards assaulted

State police charged Brian Eugene Hodgkiss, 32, of Champion with aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. State police said Hodgkiss allegedly drove his 1990 Dodge Spirit in the direction of Aaron Fike, 23, of Uniontown and James Stanley, 29, of Uniontown at the parking lot of Dunlap Creek Village Tuesday at 11:45 p.m. Fike and Stanley are security guards for internal intelligence, said police.

Connellsville

Woman assaulted

Samuel Edward Nudo Jr., 36, of Connellsville was arraigned before District Justice Ronald Haggerty on charges of simple assault and terroristic threats, said state police.

State police said they proceeded to 410 Crawford Ave. to interview for an unrelated incident on Sept. 1, and found Tonya Kay Nudo, 28, of Connellsville with a bruised and swollen left eye. Nudo said she received the injury during a domestic dispute. Samuel Nudo was then taken into custody and released after bail was set at $10,000 unsecured.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 16 at 1:45 p.m., said police.

Residence damaged

State police said siding was spray painted and a screen window damaged at the residence of Jean Lattanzo of Grindstone between 4 p.m. Sept. 7 and 3:30 p.m. Monday.

Disorderly conduct

State police said they filed disorderly conduct charges against Hiram Laken Stutler, 41, of Uniontown after he allegedly used obscene language and repeatedly kicked and damaged a rear window of a patrol vehicle while in custody at 3:50 a.m. on Sept. 2.

Cash taken

Police said Lori Ann Lape, 43, of Donesec Lane, Perryopolis told them her residence was broken into and an undetermined amount of cash was taken between 8 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Hit-and-run probed

State police said someone struck a parked, unattended vehicle owned by Mary Jane Hixon of Dover at the parking lot of Yogi Bear Campground around noon Sept. 2.

Report released

State police at Washington issued a report of their station’s activity for August that noted 1,279 criminal offenses were reported. The total was 1,272 for founded offenses and 709 were cleared. The total of criminal arrests was 715. Police listed 30 arson investigations. They also had 39 recovered vehicles and gave a value of $206,182 to recovered property, which included vehicles.

Regarding patrol activity, police logged 634 accidents, 68 of them hit-and-run. Police reported seven fatalities and 202 people injured. Troopers issued 3,389 traffic citations and 3,265 warnings, made 145 DUI arrests, assisted motorists 514 times, logged 3,519 other incidents and gave the total number of incidents as 5,946.

Diana Lynn Victor of Smithfield told state police that at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday a window screen was damaged on her Georges-Fairchance Road home.

No injuries were reported to state police when Nicholas Andrew Jordan of Smithfield lost control of his vehicle an struck a tree along a legislative route at 8:50 p.m. Monday.

Man charged

State police filed charges of simple assault and terroristic threats against Mike Louis Ansel of McClellandtown after he allegedly waved a shotgun at eight adults outside a residence on Sept. 1.

Truck painted

Joseph F. Lape Jr., 48, no address given, told state police that his 1990 Dodge truck was spray painted while parked in Rivers Edge Campground between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Theft

State police said that a 13-year-old boy is facing juvenile charges for allegedly taking a bicycle and air pump from a shed on Washington Avenue on Thursday.
