James R. Skinner
James R. Skinner, 81, of Thompson No. 2, Pa., died Wednesday, Sept. 1,1 2002, in Cherry Tree Nursing Home, Uniontown, Pa. He was born Jan. 30, 1921, in Petersburg, Va., son of the late Ernest and Essie Lee Skinner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Adeline Powell and Mary Green.
He was a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church of Cardale, Pa., a World War II veteran, worked with Clairton, U.S. Steel, was a member of Dorie Miller Post No. 824, the Senior Action Council, Cross Keys Republic Senior Center, Brownsville Booster Alumni and Penn Craft Association.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred Skinner; two sons, James E. Skinner of Chicago, Ill., and Jeffrey A. Skinner and wife, Donna of Falls Church, Va.; one aunt, Clara Reed of Norfolk, Va.; a lifelong friend, Jed Johnson of Chicago, Ill.; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Friends will be received in the MURIEL E. LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, 297 East Main St., Uniontown, today from 5 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Richard Calloway from the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
