Edward U. Thomas, 70, of Hopwood, Pa., died Wednesday, September 11, 2002, at his residence. He was born January 5, 1932, in Chadville, Pa., son of George W. and Mary Ida Fisher Thomas.

Mr. Thomas was a Veteran of the Korean War who served in the United States Air Force.

He was retired from United States Steel Corporation where he worked as a Layouts Stamper at the Homestead Works.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Laurel Lodge No. 652 F. & A.M., Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Hutchinson Gun Club, and General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 in Hopwood.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers, John, Robert and Lloyd George Thomas, and four sisters, Marian Christopher, Jessie Baker, Elizabeth Wolfe and Gladys Neighbors.

Surviving are a son, Wayne Edward Thomas and his wife, Bonnie, of Uniontown, Pa.; two grandsons: Wayne Edward Thomas and Christopher Ryan Thomas; and a sister, Thelma Henson and her husband, John R. Henson, of Collier, Pa.

Friends will be received in the JEROME W. SHELL FUNERAL HOME, 164 South Mount Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., today, September 15, until 2 p.m., the hour of Service with the Rev. Paul N. Frank officiating.

Interment will follow in White Rock Cemetery, Fairchance, Pa.

Visitation was also held Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
