State Sen. Richard A. Kasunic, (D-Dunbar), announced a $25,000 state grant for the Fayette County Fair.
Kasunic said the capital improvement money will be used to clear brush and scrub trees from the 10.295 acre lot and to excavate and construct a gravel access road.
“The Fayette County Fair is always a successful event,” Kasunic said. “This year was no exception. These funds are always a big help financially for the fair organizers who know what it costs to maintain the fairgrounds each year.”
Fayette County has 985 working farms that include cattle, commercial dairy, hog, sheep and chicken. To be considered a working farm, a farmer must sell over $1,000 in agricultural products each year.
The grant is administered by the state’s agricultural fair program.
Kasunic said he will continue t seek state funds to supplement local agricultural efforts.
