Three people die in car accidents
Three people were killed in two separate crashes Thursday night and early Friday morning. Killed Thursday night in Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County, were Joshua Plymire, 19, of Wilkinsburg, Allegheny County, and his passenger, Dale Williams, 19, of 543 Fayette St., Belle Vernon.
Killed Friday morning in Cumberland Township, Greene County, was Stanley Nakonechni, 54, of Waynesburg.
Police said Plymire and Williams’ vehicle was traveling east at a high rate of speed on Patterson Lane near Route 51 when the driver lost control and slid for several hundred feet before hitting two utility poles along the berm.
They were pronounced dead at the scene at 9:50 p.m. by Deputy Coroner Joseph Musgrove.
Police from West Newton, North Belle Vernon and Washington Township, and Rostraver Central and Webster fire departments assisted at the scene. Rostraver/West Newton also responded.
Plymire reportedly lived in Belle Vernon previously.
Nakonechni died at 5:30 a.m. Friday in a one-vehicle accident on Route 21, just east of Dugan Hill Road.
A passenger, Ronald E. Taylor, 45, of Woodstock, Ill., was flown by medical helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital and was listed in critical condition.
Nakonechni was pronounced dead at the scene by the Greene County coroner. Both men were ejected from the vehicle.
Police had no information on the cause of the crash.
