Cal U student and cousin arrested
A California University student and his cousin were arrested on campus last week after campus police allegedly found the two in possession of more than a pound of suspected marijuana. Eric Youngblood, 20, of Verona, a student at Cal U, and his cousin, James Youngblood, 20, of Pittsburgh were both charged with criminal conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Eric Youngblood was also charged with possession of prohibitive offensive weapons.
The two men were arrested by campus police last Thursday at 10:38 p.m. as they attempted to park in a lot on Sixth Street near McClosky Hall, where Eric Youngblood resides on campus, according to Michele McCoy, director of public affairs at Cal U.
McCoy said police were following a tip from an informant who advised them that Eric Youngblood was to bring a pound of marijuana to the campus.
She said, upon stopping the Youngbloods, police found 462 grams of suspected marijuana in four individually packaged bags.
She said police also found two knives in the vehicle and also wooden numbchucks, a stun gun and a folding razor knife in Eric Youngblood’s dorm room.
Eric and James Youngblood were arraigned by District Justice Walter Mark and placed in jail in lieu of $10,000 straight cash bond.
Eric Youngblood was released after posting $10,000 bond.
McCoy said Eric Youngblood was immediately placed on a 10-day interim suspension and most likely will face an on-campus judicial hearing.
