Smoke testing planned
The East Bethlehem Township Municipal Authority in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Rural Water Association, will be conducting smoke testing of the sanitary sewer lines between Sept. 30 and Oct. 25 in the Frederick Terrace Housing Project area.
Smoke should not enter premises unless a leak is present. This smoke is non-toxic, non-corrosive, and will not leave an odor or stain. If smoke enters a building, it will soon dissipate. Opening doors and windows will help vent it outside. Any smoke entering a building should be reported to the workers conducted the test, or by calling 724-377-2511.
All smoke testing will be conducted on public property. However, workers will be required to access private property as some manholes, sewer lines and laterals are located there. Residents are being asked keep pets controlled during the few days that workers are in the area.
The authority is urging residents to avoid any unnecessary exposure to the smoke, noting it is relatively harmless, but all smoke is irritating to the nasal passages. For more information call 724-377-2511 during normal business hours.
Jam session announced
Musicians from throughout Fayette County will gather at the St. Vincent de Paul Store in Uniontown for an informal jam noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.
“The volunteers will be playing gospel tunes from the traditional to songs of praise,” said Travis E. Jones, one of the St. Vincent de Paul volunteers ad the volunteer organizer of the Gospel Jam.
Anyone with an instrument is welcome to come and join them or if one prefers just listen to the uplifting tunes. Some of the musicians have performed in the past professionally such as Travis E. Jones while others have not. All are motivated by wanting to share their gift of music.
“The community through its donations to St. Vincent de Paul of clothes and household goods has been good to us and the volunteers want to do something in return for the community,” stated Roy Sarver, executive director of St. Vincent de Paul.
St. Vincent de Paul is a charity that provides help and hope to those in need in southern Fayette County. Over 170 individuals from various Catholic and Protestant churches volunteer their time and talents to aid others.
