By Jackie Beranek 2 min read

BULLSKIN TWP. – Supervisors agreed Wednesday to buy a highlift from Uniontown Industrial Equipment Co. According to supervisor chairman Robert Butler, the highlift cost $56,634. The township will get a trade-in price of $15,000, which lowered the price from $71,634 to $56,634.

Three other companies also turned in bids on the highlift.

They were Doyle Equipment Co. of Cranberry Township, $85,500, with a trade-in price of $17,000; Beckwith Machinery Co. of Murrysville, $82,638, with a trade-in of $13,830; and Anderson Equipment Co. of Bridgeville, $74,656, with a trade-in of $9,500.

The supervisors awarded the contract to the low bidder, provided all of the bid paperwork is in order. Solicitor Michael Macko will see to the details.

In other unrelated matters, the supervisors:

– Set Halloween trick-or-treat hours for Oct. 27 between 4 and 5 p.m.

– Agreed to put $26,520 in the Minimal Municipal Obligation (MMO) union pension plan. The supervisors additionally agreed to place $18,550 in the MMO non-union plan. The MMO is something the supervisors do each year and is mandated by the state.

– Agreed to obtain a list of junior firefighters from the Bullskin Fire Company. According to Butler, the firemen are covered by the township’s insurance; however, the township doesn’t have a list of junior firefighters.

– Agreed to have code-enforcement officer Roger Adams visit a property located on West Mountain View Road and Elm Drive in Bear Rocks. Residents of that area have complained that the man who owns the property placed some kind of a cylinder on his property that could roll downhill and cause damage or death if it hits a child.
